How To Create A File Upload Form In WordPress  within a few minutes

Hi guys, We are going to see how you can create a file upload form on your WordPress website. Let’s say you have a website, and you want to give your visitors a way to share files with you. You can do that easily by adding a file upload form. After watching, you will be able to create a form like this. And anyone who is visiting your site will be able to upload their file by filling up this form. Now if they click ‘send’, you will get an email like this along with the file they have uploaded.

 

 Okay! I am Darshan from Darshan Blogs, and let’s create our file upload form. First, let’s see the website where we’re going to create our form. Here it is. Now, to create the file upload form, we are going to take 3 steps. The first step is to install a plugin on your site. So to install the plugin, let’s go to our WordPress dashboard. Now go to ‘Plugins’ and click ‘Add New. Here, search for a plugin called ‘Forminator, and you will get this plugin.

 

Now, this is the plugin that will help us create a file upload form. So to install the plugin, let’s click ‘Install’ and then click 'Activate'. So now we have successfully installed the plugin. Once you have installed the plugin, we can go to step 2, which is to create our file upload form. So to create the form Let’s go to ‘Forminator and click Forms. And then click 'create. Now, here you will find different types of forms that you can create. As we want to create a file upload form, I am going to choose ‘Contact form'. Then click 'continue'. And it will ask you to enter a name for your form. So let’s enter the name. And click 'create. You can see that we have our form. And as you can see, our form doesn’t have any fields for uploading files.

 

So next, let’s add a file upload field. To add the field, all you have to do is click ‘Insert fields'. Since we want to add a ‘File upload’ field. Let's select it and click insert fields. And you will get this page, where you can edit your file upload field. Now, if you want your visitors to upload a single file, you can select this. Or if you want your visitors to upload multiple files, you can select this. As I want my visitors to upload only a single file, I am going to keep this selected.

 

Now if we click ‘Apply, Here you can see that the File Upload field has been added to our form. So to add the form to your site: First, you need to create a new page. So, to create it, let’s go to Pages and click ‘Add New. Now enter a title for your page. I am going to enter ‘Reach Us'. Now to add this form to our site. Just click the plus icon. And search for form. Then select this block. The form has been added. Now click 'publish'. And our form will be added to our site.

 

So to check that, let’s go to our website. Now if we click ‘refresh, you can see that we do not have the page that we created. Next, let’s see how to add the page to our menu. So to do that, let’s go to our dashboard. Now go to appearance and click 'customize. Click on menus, and then click ‘primary menu. Here, you can see the menu items that we have on our site. Now to add the page to our menu Just click here. Now select the page that we have created. And it will be added to our menu. So to save the changes, click 'publish. Now if we go back to our website and click ‘refresh, you can see that we now have the page. So let’s open it. Here, you can see the form that we have created. And we have the file upload option. So now we have successfully added the form to our website. Next, let’s see how this form works.

 

Let’s say a visitor fills up these details. Now to upload the file. All they have to do is Just click here and select the file that they want to upload. Now, if they click ‘Send message, you can see that the file is not uploaded. And says the ‘maximum file size allowed is 8MB'. Which means we cannot upload files that are larger than 8MB. So next, let’s see how to increase the maximum upload size. so as to increase the upload size. Let’s go to our WordPress dashboard. Then go to ‘Forminator’ and click 'Forms. Here you can see that we have our form, which we created before. Now click ‘edit, and it will take you to this page. Now, to increase the file upload size, click Upload file. And you will get this page. Now go to 'settings. And here you can see that the upload file size limit is 8MB. And if you see here, the maximum upload file size limit is 134 MB.

 

Which means we can increase the file size up to 134MB. And this size usually varies based on your server. So here, enter the file size you want. I am going to enter 15 So now your visitors can upload files of up to 15 MB. Once you’ve entered the size, click ‘Apply, then Update, and the maximum file size will be increased. So let’s go back to our form. And click 'refresh'. Now let’s say a visitor fills up these details and uploads the file, which is over 8 mb. Now if they click ‘send message, you can see that the form has been submitted. So now, if we go to our inbox, you can see that we have received an email.

 

And also, you can see the file they have attached to the form. Now, let’s say you want to reply to this email. So just click 'Reply'. And as you can see here, we have our email address instead of our visitor’s email address. Which means we cannot reply to our visitors. So next, let’s see how you can reply to your visitors. Now, to reply to your visitor, you need to change this email address to your visitor’s email address.

 

So to change that, let’s go to this tab and click ‘Email Notifications. Then click here, and you will get this page. Now, change the email address to your visitors email address. Go to ‘Advanced, and here you can change the email address. So let’s click this plus icon. And select ‘Email address. Now scroll down and click 'Add'. Now to save our changes. Just click 'Update'. And the email address will be changed. So to check that, let’s go back to our inbox and open the mail. Now if we click reply, you can see that the email address has been changed to our visitor’s email address. So now we can reply to our visitors.

 

Here, enter the message you want. And then click 'Send'. Now this message will be sent. Now if we go to our visitor’s inbox. You can see that your visitor has sent an email. Now, if we open it, you can see the message that we have sent in the email. Okay! So this is how you can reply to your visitors. Next, let’s see how you can add a file upload form to a page that is built using Elementor. Let’s say you have a page like this, which is built using Elementor. Now to add your file upload form to this page using Elementor, click ‘Edit with Elementor'. And it will take you to this page. Now go to the place where you want to add the form.

 

Let’s say you want to add the file upload form here. All you have to do is go here and search for ‘Forminator, and you will get this widget. So just drag the widget and drop it here. Now here, enter the title you want. I am going to enter 'support'. Once you’ve entered the title, click 'Update'. And our form will be added to our page. Now if we click here, you can see that the form has been added. So this is how you can add your [file upload] form to a page that is built using Elementor. Okay! So, that’s it, guys.
