Chairman of the National Innovation Center, Mahaveer Pun, protested that the state has neglected the fields of innovation, innovation, and research.
Pun, who has been on a sit-in at Maitighar since Friday with various demands, complained that even the Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, and even an economist did not raise their voice on why there is a need for innovation and research in the country.
"Inventions and researches make the country's economy. But we have not understood the inventions and research," he said.
He also said that the movement is not only for him but for all Nepalis who have the latest ideas and creative thinking. Pun has specifically demanded four points in the direction. He has demanded that the government should allocate a budget for innovation, innovation, and research under this.
"In developed countries, the government allocates a certain percentage of its budget for research and innovation. In Nepal, the provincial and federal governments should set up a research, innovation, and innovation fund and allocate one percent of the development budget every year," he said.
Similarly, Pun has also demanded to make a law to spend the funds allocated by the government. "The Public Procurement Act does not deal with research and innovation. We need to make a different law for this and move forward," he added.
Similarly, he has demanded that the government prepare standards for the registration of any product made in the country, from registration to operation permit. Recently, Yatri Motorcycles, selling and producing electric bikes in the country, raised the issue of having to suffer to register their vehicles and demanded to make a new law so that this does not happen again.
Pun has also demanded to arrange an independent government body to regulate and facilitate those who conduct research and work in innovation.
